The Embassy. The cafe is a relic from the days of timber 'stalls' with a table and bench seats and other features altered beyond recognition. Hunter Street, Newcastle, near Darby Street. Past generations of Greeks were in the cafe trade. Web translation follows.

Good milk shakes are found at some cafes. Not the thick shake variety in luminous colour. The Ritz Cafe, Adamstown is one source. Another is Jim's Dairy Delight and Milk Bar, Hamilton, years old, where the array of chocolates and sweets is much much smaller now and some unusual incidents involved the owner in the past.
As an occasional drink, the milk shake is rather good, even better malted, but the quality varies. Sometimes they are lastly topped up with additional milk which defeats the purpose and ends up with a massive amount of drink. According to one cafe it is best to use day-old milk because it whips-up better. Skim milk is an option! And maybe malt is a wholesome addition.

Country town with the old and new.
Wot? a new style 'burger? A real bread roll is a marvelous improvement. However, it is well nigh impossible to copy a greasy juicy burger from a local, infra dig, fish and chips shop.

The Leyland Brothers from Newcastle were outback adventurers and film makers and their work was considered infra dig by some experts while many others loved them. Sadly Mike Leyland has died. A reference is made to them here in the archives 3 August 07 showing the ultimate reproduction: Uluru.

Another hospital scene at The Royal Newcastle Centre. Music sooths. Volunteer musicians take turns at the piano.
Cafes and shops are among the services in this space which offers some relief from the medical milieu.
The Centre is attached to the John Hunter Hospital, New Lambton, and has orthopaedic type services and more. The Centre replaces the original 'Royal' by the seaside in Newcastle East, which has been demolished and the land sold for high rise apartments.
The Mater Hospital has been rebuild along pleasant lines. It could be said this general hospital specialises in Oncology and Mental Health services.
It may have limited beds but it has a bright Delimarche.

Cafe: Ripples by the Lake, Toronto. Midwinter. The days have been pleasantly mild
