A signal 'box' that is still operational.  Here is a line ultimately to the far reaches of the country.

A railway line went through here behind the houses past Saint Andrews and Civic Park across Hunter street to the harbour front.  Small timber skips carried coal that was mined from out beyond the Junction area. There was also evidence of a rail line in the cliff south of Merewether Baths.

Sydney underground comes up for air at Circular Quay and then back down again.

From the train to Sydney. Leave Hawkesbury River behind and climb over steep sandstone hills then down to the Sydney 'basin.'  The climb is a good section to take a nap.

Other than that, the blog is beset with computer glitches just now. Nothing much is happening.

A protest,  Time For Action, according to the protest sign, was organized by Rising Tide.

A group of Priscillas (Priscilla Queen of the Desert) took the Elvis Express to the festival in Parkes. Parody was in mind.....I think!
Broadly speaking demographics reveal that more men than women are found in country areas.
The town of Parkes has had an Elvis Festival and the Countrylink Elvis Express was caught leaving Sydney with Elivs look-alikes and entertainment on wheels.
The town's alter ego is the Parke's radiotelescope which watches deep space and not forgetting its role in the moon landing according to that quaint movie The Dish.

Mind The Gap!
Look beneath a train door and most likely it will be seen that it was made in Newcastle. Local companies seek out contracts to build trains and use their long-standing expertise and create jobs as well.

Hornby model railway or Katoomba Station? A Station with a curve.
